The project launch at Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) was attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The event marked the official inauguration of seven important infrastructural developments, including the CIAL import cargo terminal, the Digi Yatra Project for paperless passengers’ entry to the airport, and the modernization of emergency services.
Mantra Softech, a leading provider of biometric technology solutions, was awarded a project in February 2023 to implement the Digi Yatra System at CIAL. This project aimed to enhance the digital transition in air travel experiences.
The project involved the deployment of e-gates, face terminals, IT infrastructure, Mantra’s Central integrated Application Platform, and a face recognition system for paperless passenger processing. Facial recognition technology has streamlined the passenger journey at various checkpoints within CIAL. The Digi Yatra app enables a smooth 3-step process, including credential sharing, obtaining a boarding pass, and facial validation at entry and security checkpoints. This innovative approach ensures a quick and efficient transition from entry to the aircraft.
The Director at Mantra Softech commented on the project, stating that they faced the challenge of ensuring a smooth flow of passengers while maintaining security. To meet the project requirements, Mantra developed a centralized platform that housed all data, business processes, and integrations with multi-party systems within CIAL’s central IT infrastructure. This facilitated efficient operations and validations in a matter of seconds.
The implemented system at CIAL includes e-gates with high throughput, advanced passenger detection, and a minimal footprint at various checkpoints. The seamless passenger processing relies on cutting-edge Face Recognition Technology, high-end capture technology for quick matching and accuracy, advanced IT infrastructure, and a centralized monitoring and administration platform for the Digi Yatra System.
Through this project, Mantra demonstrates its advanced technology and capability to enhance the passenger onboarding experience, making air travel more convenient and efficient.
